The original has a much more harsh, plastic feel in the seat and back. The original chair can start to cut circulation off to your thighs and lower legs especially when leaning back because of the way the chair rocks and reclines.
The original is flawed, the padding and softer material fixes it. This isn't good for "gaming" - it's good for the comfort of the chair. Overall the seat gives you much less pressure under your legs, and does in fact promote a slightly more forward / upright posture.the back has additional foam installed, between the already softer fabric on the X, and the plastic flexible back component.the seat has a layer of high quality foam on the seat pan, which upgrades the seat comfort over long periods of time.the fabric has built in padding, and is also much softer than the two fabric options available on the standard model.The Logitech chair is far more comfortable overall for these reasons: The standard, with the Sync fabric, and the Logitec X version. I currently as I write this have two versions in my possession. There are small difference, that make a big difference in the comfort. Anyway seems i just prefer the sync fabric which gives it a looser more comfortable feel. It seems like this causes it to pull in the sides which gives me the discomfort in the shoulders. i think my perception of this is due to the balance fabric and how tightly it is upholstered onto the chair. I am going to keep the logitech one and return the original as it feels much more comfortable on my big shoulders/backĮdit: After sitting in both for a while longer i am pretty sure i was wrong about the logitech one having a different back angle to it than the standard. I also noticed on their twitter page they noted this one has different "angles" for gaming so maybe that is the difference i feel. It almost feels like the back on the original balance one pushes my shoulders forward whereas the logitech one allows them to be flat against it. I find it alot more comfortable than the balance. i noticed the back for sure has a different angle to it. I just got my logitech one in this afternoon and have it side by side next to a balance fabric from amazon.
